Lillian Ng’ang’a has come out strongly to silence her critics, hitting back at those who have been questioning and scrutinising her romantic history while making it abundantly clear that she will not allow anyone to dictate how she should live her life.

In an unfiltered statement shared on her Instagram page on Friday, March 14, 2025, the former Machakos First Lady expressed her disbelief at the backlash she continues to receive simply because of her past relationships.

Lillian firmly stated that since she turned 25, she has only been involved with two men, and as she prepares to celebrate her 40th birthday this year, she finds it utterly ridiculous that people would use this aspect of her personal life to throw insults at her and attack her character.

“How can the fact that I’ve been with only two men since I was 25 make me all the foolish things you call me?” Lillian posed, clearly unbothered by the noise surrounding her.

Refusing to be defined by public perception, she went on to remind her detractors of her achievements, pointing out that she had successfully contested for political office twice and emerged victorious on both occasions—something she firmly stated was an accomplishment that many of her critics would never get to experience in their lifetimes.

Unapologetically asserting her right to speak her mind, Lillian made it crystal clear that no amount of backlash would deter her from expressing her views on matters she deems important.

She even warned that those who took issue with her speaking out should brace themselves, as she had no intention of holding back.

“I was lucky to run two elections and win—something some of you will never get to experience. So whether you like it or not, I’ll continue to share my opinion on different matters. This is just the beginning.”

Breakup with Juliani

Earlier on, March 10, 2025, Lillian also hit the headlines once more after she finally broke her silence on the long-rumoured breakup with renowned hip-hop artiste Julius Owino, popularly known as Juliani.

In an exclusive interview with Dr Ofweneke, the former Machakos First Lady and author spoke candidly about her perspective on relationships, making it clear that she does not believe in holding on when something has run its course.

She stated that she prefers to embrace the experiences, appreciate the lessons learnt, and move forward without unnecessary struggle.

“I never struggle to just hold on to something when its time is over. I appreciate what we’ve had, memories or lessons, and then we just move on,” Lillian shared, making it evident that she had no regrets about her past relationships.

She also delved into what attracts her to a partner, admitting that her greatest weakness is being drawn to intelligence, though she acknowledged that this has not always worked in her favour. She explained that she values a man who can stimulate her mind and introduce her to new perspectives, rather than focusing on superficial traits like appearance or status.

“My weakness, I have come to realise, is that I’m attracted to intelligence, which doesn’t always pay off. I like a man who stimulates my mind and teaches me something I don’t know. It’s not about sijui unakaa aje and doing this sort of thing,” she said.

Her revelation came just months after fans began speculating about her split from Juliani, which first made waves in September 2024 when observant social media users noticed that the two had unfollowed each other and stopped engaging with each other’s posts.

As rumours swirled, Juliani also subtly addressed the breakup in a past interview, confirming that they had indeed parted ways but choosing not to delve into details.

“Even my previous relationship was ongoing for two years before people knew about it,” he said, hinting at his preference for keeping his personal life private.

At the height of speculation, the rapper took to social media with a cryptic message that many believed was his response to the relentless curiosity surrounding his love life.

Wako bent kujua njia za G. Kenye wanapata ni letter katikati ya M and P.” “They are busy trying to dig into my private life but can’t get anything,” he posted, brushing off the ongoing chatter.

Lillian and Juliani’s romance has been the subject of intense public interest ever since her highly publicised split from former Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua, who now serves as Kenya’s Cabinet Secretary for Labour and Social Protection.

The two tied the knot in 2022 and later welcomed a son together, solidifying their relationship before their eventual separation.
