The High Court has upheld the Senate’s decision to impeach Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza.
Justice Bahati Mwamuye, on Friday, March 14, ruled that her impeachment was lawful per the Constitution.
Mwangaza had urged the High Court to quash her impeachment, arguing that MCAs and senators discussed her removal when there was a court order prohibiting the ouster.
Her lawyers, Elisha Ongoya and Elias Mutuma argued that the impeachment was a sham and a mockery of justice as it offended a court order issued by Meru High Court on July 24, 2024.
