Former Harambee Stars interim coach Francis Kimanzi has taken up a key role within Kenyan football following his appointment as Football Development Director.
This move comes after his tenure as interim coach, a position he assumed after the departure of Engin Firat and was later succeeded by newly appointed South African football legend Benni McCarthy.
Kimanzi has played a crucial role in helping McCarthy transition smoothly into his new position, given the short turnaround time before his first major assignment of leading Kenya in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Gambia on March 20 and Gabon on March 23.

CAF president Patrice Motsepe has set high expectations for his fellow South African Benni McCarthy who was recently appointed Harambee Stars coach.

In a statement seen by Pulse Sports, the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) reaffirmed its faith in Kimanzi’s ability to contribute meaningfully in his new capacity.
