Cabinet Secretary for Public Service and Human Capital Development, Justin Muturi, has refuted claims that he has resigned from his position.

This comes after a fake letter announcing his resignation went viral.

Taking to his official X account on Thursday, March 13, 2025, Muturi dismissed the letter as fraudulent, urged the public to disregard it, and assured Kenyans that he remains committed to his role in government, diligently working to strengthen public service and enhance human capital development.

He further warned against the spread of misinformation, emphasizing the need for vigilance against deceptive content meant to mislead the public.

“It has come to my attention that a fraudulent letter is circulating, falsely claiming that I have resigned as the Cabinet Secretary for Public Service and Human Capital Development. I categorically state that this letter is fake and should be disregarded,” Muturi said.

“I remain fully committed to serving the people of Kenya in my capacity as Cabinet Secretary, working to strengthen our public service and enhance human capital development. Let us all be vigilant against misinformation intended to mislead the public.

Muturi on resignation

On Wednesday, March 12, 2025, Muturi maintained that he would not step down despite perceived tensions with President William Ruto’s administration.

Speaking during an interview on a local TV station, the CS argued that rather than being pressured to leave office, he should be commended for upholding the government’s principles and constitutional values.

“I feel that to resign because of raising the issue of abductions and extrajudicial killings would be a cowardly act on my part. I feel that the best is for me to state it while still serving as CS because it is not personal for me,” he said.

While defending his previous remarks on abduction, he insisted that raising such matters should not be a reason for resignation but rather a responsibility of any leader committed to justice and the rule of law.

“As far as I know, it is not the policy of the government to abduct or to have people killed. Speaking against that cannot be a ground for anybody to resign from office. Indeed, I think I should be congratulated for restating the government position, which is also informed by our constitution, which we all swore to protect, defend, and uphold,” he stated.

“The issue I raised on January 12 was an objection to abductions and extrajudicial killings that were happening in the country. In that statement, I did indicate that it is time that we as a government debated those issues because if left alone, they have the potential to drag this country into chaos and anarchy.
