The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has announced a temporary closure of the new Mbogolo Bridge on Mombasa-Mtwapa-Kilifi Road.
In a statement signed by KeNHA director Kung’u Ndung’u, the roads authority noted that the closure is meant to pave way for the completion of the bridge.
The closure of the road will start on Tuesday, March 18, 2025 at midnight and end on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at midnight.
Following the temporary changes, KeNHA states that traffic will be diverted to the old Mbogolo Bridge route during the completion period.
“The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) would like to inform the public that the Mombasa-Mtwapa-Kilifi Road at the new Mbogolo Bridge will be closed to enable the completion of the Bridge. The closure will commence on Tuesday, March 18th, 2025, at midnight and end on Tuesday, April 1st, 2025, at midnight,” the statement reads in parts.

The roads authority also urged motorists to exercise caution around the work area and follow the proposed traffic management plan issued.
KeNHA also asked motorists to cooperate with the police and traffic marshals on site to enhance a smooth flow of traffic.
“Traffic will be diverted to the old Mbogolo Bridge route during this period. Motorists are requested to exercise caution around the work area, follow the proposed traffic management plan below, and cooperate with the police and traffic marshals on site,” KeNHA added.
