Kajiado East Member of Parliament, Kakuta Maimai, has commissioned a girl boarding secondary school in Merrueshi, Kenyawa Poka ward.

The Merrueshi Maasai Girls’ Secondary School has been constructed through the National Government Constituency Fund (NG-CDF) for the financial year 2023/2024.

“For a long time, girls from the Maasai community were sidelined in matters of education but I want to congratulate parents from this constituency, as they are empowering girls through education just like empowering boys,” said Maimai.

The legislator revealed that they had earlier built a mixed school for both boys and girls in the area but they have now constructed a girl’s school so that the girls can have a humble time and convenient environment for learning without being disturbed.

He promised to put more resources in schools such as teachers, bursary and scholarships, so that the girls can excel in their academics.

Maimai further revealed that their comprehensive school’s strategy has already transformed 85 of the 136 existing schools within the constituency.

He noted that the remaining institutions are scheduled to receive their upgrades by the end of next term, also pledging that he will ensure all schools within the constituency will benefit from sustainable, quality infrastructure before the end of his first term as the area MP.
