Why did MV Skagit sink?

Studies revealed that the ferry had many technical problems.

This is why the previous owner tried to sell it on eBay without success.

While Seagull International in Tanzania bought the ferry, it was only three years old in its 25 -year use period.

After the security inspection:

Authorities ordered the number of passengers to be reduced from 250 to 148.

Passengers were warned not to walk in the ferry.

The ferry was only allowed to work in calm water because it could not withstand strong winds or large waves.

It was prevented from carrying heavy loads as it could not control the weight uneven.

But the ferry company ignored all those orders.

On that bad day, the ship turned on one side and overturned, leaving passengers in a state of turmoil.

Hundreds tried to be saved by holding fur or pieces of floating ferries.

Many lost their lives or completely disappeared.
