Addressing mourners in the Kiminini area, Trans Nzoia County, Emmanuel recalled the last words that his father told him before he left on Thursday, February 20.

Emmanuel said he had returned recently from a conference in Bilbao, Spain, where he bought his father a real Spanish hat that is usually worn during a bull fight.

“I put a hat on his head. Then he said that he already felt like a bull fighter. Then he went on to say that no one could make a mess with his fight,” Emmanuel narrated bitterly.

He added that Chebikati was known for his confidence and resilience, the qualities recognized by his family and the whole country.

Emmanuel referred to his father as a man who ordered respect and had no challenge.

“Through my eyes and with the eyes of family members sitting here you will see him as the best father, husband, brother you can have. Emmanuel said.

Emmanuel pondered how his father had built a sense of accountability, narrating how he was entrusted with managing workers' salaries and managing procurement issues.

“Every month I would prepare a budget, submit it to him for approval, raise funds, withdraw and make sure that everyone had signed their own. It was not just about calculations, it was to understand the value of work and justice,” he added.

Were there plans to kill Chebikati?

Speaking at the event, the late Chebikati's daughter revealed that there were plans to kill her father during the 2022 general election.

Rachel said she had her father before going to Bomas of Kenya to announce the presidential results.
