Sabatia Eye Hospital, in partnership with the Christian Blind Mission (CBM), is conducting a clinical camp at the Vihiga County Referral Hospital to serve those with eyesight disorders.
Over 2,000 people have been screened so far and 260 cataract cases rectified.
A Community Health Promotion Officer (CHPO) Dr. Everyone Mwango says the two-day exercise is targeting as many residents as possible and urged them to turn up for screening.
Dr. Mwango stated that the most prevalent disorder was the eye cataracts but the exercise was also attending to other cases including recommending lenses.
The medic explained that the initiative is dubbed Vision Impact Project (VIP) and aimed at assisting patients with vision handicaps.
She said that they intended to reach out to the potential beneficiaries across the county to ensure they have access to the full package of health services.
