The meeting, attended by governor of Wajir Ahmed Abdullahi Mohammed and several MCAS, witnessed Raila Odinga in conjunction with local residents, seeking their views on whether he should join the political camp of the former Deputy President, Rigathi Gachagua.
Will Raila join the camp of Gachagua?
Residents of Wajir rejected the idea unanimously, which prompted the opposition leader to indicate that he might have dismissed the possibility of cooperating with Gachagua.
During the meeting, Raila criticized Gachagua for referring to his earlier statements in which he promised to set up traps to prevent Raila from entering the White House and canceled the possibility of reconciliation greetings or an authoritative agreement.
“Then there was this one who said he had set traps everywhere so that I would not enter the White House, there is no reconciliation, there is no union government. Do you want us to work with him?” Raila asked the crowd, which responded with a loud denial.
Later, Raila narrated one of his famous riddles to emphasize the impact of Gachagua's political approach. He narrated the story of a man who laid a rat trap but found himself at a loss instead of benefits.
In his case, the man set a trap using bait. When the rat saw the bait but also realized the dangers, he went to ask for help. The chicken ignored him saying he had no need for traps.
The rat turned to the goat, but he also refused to help. Finally, the rat asked for help in the cow, but the cow, being big and living outside, saw no reason to care about the trap.
