Renowned Kenyan musician Wilson Abubakar Radido, widely known as Willy Paul, has clarified the recent controversy surrounding his relationship with Tanzanian fans and artistes.

In a statement on his official Instagram account on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, he dismissed harbouring any ill feelings towards Tanzanians, emphasizing that he holds love and respect for them.

The singer explained that the recent tension stemmed from an incident involving a Tanzanian artiste who, according to him, showed disrespect during an event they were both performing. He made it clear that his refusal to tolerate such behaviour was not an act of enmity but rather a stance against disrespect.

To further reinforce his appreciation for Tanzanian talent, the Toto hitmaker announced an upcoming collaboration with the gifted Tanzanian singer Phina. The song is set to be released this week, showcasing his commitment to fostering unity in the East African music industry.

Ndugu zangu wa Tanzania, msidanganywe eti nina chuki na nyinyi au wasanii wenu. Sisi sote mandugu and we need each other but what I won’t allow ni dharau. Msanii wenu alikuja kuniletea dharau hapa home… nikakataa na bado nitakataa tu,” Willy Paul said.

Akabadilisha story na kusema kuwa nawachukia watz, mimi sina chuki na watz. I love you all my brothers and sisters. I have a song with the talented Phina dropping this week.”

This clarification aims to put an end to any speculation about animosity between Willy Paul and Tanzanians, especially considering that he has collaborated with many Bongo artistes.

On December 8,2024, Pozze decried of mistreatment at Diamond Platinumz’s Furaha City music festival that took place at the Nairobi Polo Club last night.

Taking to his official Instagram account, Willy Paul lamented that he had faced mistreatment and almost been denied a chance to perform at the just-concluded event.

According to the multitalented singer, Tanzanian artistes were being given the first priority at the event.

“Tanzanian artists are being given priority at this event. This is sad. Mbona Wakenya wanadharauliwa mbele ya wabongo?” Willy Paul stated.

He further stated that Tanzanian artistes were being taken to the stage to perform as Kenyans got ignored in a last-minute change of the performing protocol.

“I’m being mistreated at the event. Wanaweka Tanzanians Waperform. Wanachange vitu last minute. Why are Kenyans allowing this?” he added.

A disagreement is said to have ensued when Diamond Platnumz’s team refused to let him perform after Willy Paul, but the event’s attendees demanded that the Kenyan act perform as per the schedule.
