President William Ruto has received credentials from five newly appointed ambassadors as Kenya continues to strengthen its diplomatic ties with various nations.
During a ceremony held at State House in Nairobi on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, Ruto welcomed ambassadors representing Greece, Cuba, Korea, Angola, and Vietnam.
In a statement following the event, Ruto reaffirmed Kenya’s commitment to fostering international partnerships that promote trade, create job opportunities, and support global cooperation for mutual prosperity.
“Kenya continues to strengthen diplomatic ties with many nations for mutual interest and benefit. These include advancing trade and investment, enhancing people-to-people relations, securing job opportunities, and fostering global partnerships for the collective well-being of humanity,” Ruto stated.
Envoys speak
During the event, George Psiachas, the Ambassador for Greece, expressed his gratitude for his appointment and outlined the plans he aims to achieve during his term.
“I am very fortunate to have been blessed with the opportunity to live and work in this beautiful country, which has come to be known as the cradle of the human species. It is my honest hope that during my tour duty, I shall succeed in my endeavours to further promote the natural relations between my two countries in all fields; political, diplomatic, economic and cultural,” he stated.

“Throughout my mission, I will seek to strengthen our cooperation in multilateral forums which for the next two years will be of particular importance due to my country’s term as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council,” he added.
On her part, Ines Fors Fernandez, the Ambassador of Cuba, reflected on Kenya’s ties with her country, vowing to strengthen them during her term.

“For me, this appointment is a reminder of the deep bonds of friendship between Africa and Cuban people. I stand here as a daughter of Africa. There is still a lot of potential to enhance and diversify the friendly relations and cooperations with the brotherly country of Kenya, in several mutual, beneficial sectors including education, sports, agriculture, tourism and scientific research. I will make every effort to further develop the excellent relation between our countries and enhance the brotherhood of cooperation relations with Kenya a name synonymous with resilience warmth and a spirit of building,” she stated,
Korean Ambassador Kangu Huyngshik emphasized the importance of collaboration between Kenya and Korea, highlighting ongoing development projects between the two countries.

“It is truly a privilege to be assigned to Kenya, a country of immense beauty and attractions. I want to reaffirm the Korean government’s unwavering commitment to support Kenya’s development strategy. Several projects are currently underway in close collaboration between Korea and Kenya,” he said.
Angolan Ambassador Mario de Azevedo Constantino expressed his determination to strengthen ties between Kenya and Angola.

“I will perform my functions and duties to the best of my knowledge in favour of strengthening and deepening our bilateral operations,”
The envoy to Vietnam, Madam Vu Thanh, reminisced about the ties between her country and Kenya, highlighting the upcoming 13th-anniversary celebrations of their diplomatic relations.

“This year, our two countries will commemorate the thirteenth anniversary of diplomatic relations. In our relationship, we have mutually supported each other over time, and today we share the same vision for nation-building and economic development for the prosperity, stability, and development of our two nations and, generally, our continents,” she stated.
The newly accredited envoys are expected to work closely with Kenya to deepen bilateral relations across various sectors.
