His revelation comes in the wake of Australian teen sensation Gout Gout breaking Noah Lyles’ personal best. In Brisbane’s Joanna Stone Shield on March 1, Gout clocked in a time of 46.20.Last year, Gout ran 20.04 in the 200m, making him only the second U18 athlete to surpass Usain Bolt’s record in that category.
Justin Gatlin has paid homeage to Usain Bolt for reviving his sprinting career after getting back into the sport in 2010.
While his all-round potential is high, Gout appears to be concentrating on shorter sprints moving forward, just like Bolt did at that age. Bolt revealed his fear for the 400m stating. “The 400 meters, I didn’t care. I didn’t care about nothing. The fear of the 400, bro. I just…I just didn’t want to do it.”
The podcast was hosted by American sprint legend Justin Gatlin alongside former Bahamas athlete Rodney Green. Bolt said he was forced to race in the 400m at school because he won a championship but that it wasn’t a personal decision. “I started running the 400 meters because I did that at the Boys and Girls Championships in my last year, and I won.”

Sha’Carri Richardson sends defiant message to rivals as the American intends to write off the wrongs in 2025.
He further pointed out that unlike his preferred 100m and 200m events, his dislike for 400m is because of the extra effort required. “So L-1 was doing two-four, but I understand the work that you have to put in for the 400. I was like, ‘Nah’. So I didn’t really have a motivation-I just didn’t want to do the 400 meters.”
His achievements as a sprinter have earned him the media nickname “Lightning Bolt”, and his awards include the IAAF World Athlete of the Year, Track & Field Athlete of the Year, BBC Overseas Sports Personality of the Year (three times), and Laureus World Sportsman of the Year (four times). Bolt was included in Time magazine’s 100 Most Influential People of 2016.
