The MP warns that it is not easy for the presidents in power to get a second term
During the funeral of Malava MP, Malulu Injendi, Senator Boni Khalwale promised President William Ruto's unstable support from the western region but wanted him to prioritize development to strengthen his re -election.
Khalwale reminded Ruto that history shows that presidents serve two sessions, but getting a second term is not an easy task.
“Kenya's political culture since 1992 is that the President serves for 10 years, and I don't think 2027 will be different. You will be re -elected, and Mr. President, I say this with political understanding,” He said.
He warned that the 2027 elections would be difficult, requiring patience and strong political fighters.
The veteran politician wanted the president to surround himself with brave leaders who could withstand political pressure.
“I ask you, Mr. President, just two things. 2027 will not be easy. It will be difficult. You will need men, men who can receive a blow and still say, 'Bring another',” Khalwale added.
How will Ruto make sure he gets the second term?
The senator made a request to Ruto, demanding that he be prioritized in Kakamega County and the wide area of western Kenya to gain the support of the residents.
Commenting on his trust in Ruto, Khalwale made it clear that his support would depend on the government's performance in implementing development projects.
He assured the President that the area would give him a vote, citing the community's ability to give more than one million votes, the highest number in the area.

How will the opposition fight Ruto?
On Tuesday, March 4, prominent opposition leaders, including former Deputy President Rigathi GachaguaWiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, Dap-K leader Eugene Wamalwa, and PLP's Martha Karua, met in Nairobi to discuss forming a joint alliance towards the 2027 general elections.
The session, held at a hotel in Nairobi, was also attended by a businessman Jimi Wanjigi and political activist Morara Kebaso.
Their discussion focused on unity and collective measures, with officials emphasizing the importance of addressing the nation's major challenges and liberating the nation.
