Ida Odinga has been conferred with a lifetime achievement award from the Human Achievers Foundation (HAF), a foundation that promotes the role of women in society.
The wife to the former Prime Minister. Raila Odinga on Tuesday, March 4 2025 confirmed her conferment via her Facebook account.
The award is presented annually by the organisation to recognise and celebrate individuals for their exemplary and outstanding service to humanity worldwide.
“I’m honoured to receive the “Pride of Kenya” award from the Human Achievers Foundation (H.A.F) for my contributions to education, especially girls’ education. H.A.F, led by Dr. Senorita Isaac, focuses on women’s empowerment, children’s welfare, and healthcare,” Ida said.
Ida was honoured for her immense engagements in furthering girls’ education, through sponsoring programs for students, construction of schools, and other learning related resources centres.
“They recognized my work in sponsoring students, building schools, and establishing the Dr. Ida Odinga Library & Resource Centre,” she revealed.
In line with her awarding, the Human Achievers Foundation will partner with Homa Bay County to empower women and support children’s education.
The partnership will touch on facets of women empowerment programs as well as promoting children’s education in the region.

As a former teacher, Ida’s lifelong passion for education has seen her on the forefront of advocating for the girl child’s future and agitating for the rights of women and mentoring them into leadership.
She has been involved in the construction of a dining hall complex at Dr Ida Girls Secondary School in Asango, Ugunja, Siaya county.
Ida helped establish the Dr. Ida Odinga Library & Resource Centre in the girls’ school in Homabay County as an alumna of the school.
Led by Senorita Issac as the chairperson, the Human Achievers is a social organization that advocates for social causes across the world with a focus on destitute, uneducated women and sexually abused children.

The group also champions the role of women in society, enabling gender equality and ensuring that women have a real voice.
