Wafula Chebikati, former Chairman of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), will be buried on Saturday, March 8, in his Sabata house in the Zanzibar Parliament, Trans Nzoia County.
Speaking during a meeting at Chebikati's home, the Speaker of the National Assembly, Moses Wetang'ula, said the government would give Chebikati a decent funeral.
Chebikati's widow, who attended the conference, was wearing a maroon skirt suit with her wedding ring still on her finger.
The mother of three spoke for the first time since the death of her husband. She praised her beloved husband, saying she loved peace.
“You all know the kind of life he was living. A good, quiet, respectful life. I know you will do it for him, I have no doubt about it,” He said.

Chebikati's dead worship will take place on Wednesday, March 5, in Citam Karen. The worship and memory of honor will take place in his Sabata house on Friday, March 7, before his funeral.

How many wives did Chebikati have?
Chebikati had married one wife, Wanyonyi, and they had three children: Rachel, Jonathan, and Emmanuel.
The former IEBC chairman was a loving husband and father. He was sharing romantic pictures with his wife, some of them in the golf course, where they spent their free time.
In one of his tweets, Chebikati lovingly congratulated his wife, congratulating him after getting a new job as chairman of the revenue commission in June 2023.
The couple lived a private and quiet life away from fame despite holding top positions in the country.
