The contract nightmare keeping him away from Gor Mahia

Benson Omala is still in the dark where he will be playing next after recent release by Al Safa SC and Gor Mahia have clarified why they won’t engage him for now.

Gor Mahia chairman Ambrose Rachier has dismissed talks of a possible reunion with Benson Omala despite being a free agent.

Benson Omalla was widely rumoured to be making a possible return to the record champions camp, more than a year after he left for Lebanese side Al Safa SC.

Rachier says they had released Omala, and even now that he has terminated his contract with Al Safa SC, the path is unclear. Rachier said Gor Mahia fear being sanctioned by Fifa for breaching contractual rules.

South African legend Benni McCarthy has reportedly decided on the men who will join his technical bench when he takes over as Harambee Stars coach.

‘’We have not talked with him. The position of his contract with the Lebanese side Al Safa is still opaque, and engaging him at the moment can possibly hand us FIFA sanctions,’’ Rachier told Citizen Digital.

Rachier said Gor Mahia will only consider signing Omala should his situation be made clear by Al Safa SC.

Victor Wanyama hints at where he wants to play next as he weighs several offers

Victor Wanyama has hinted at where he is likely to play next as he weighs his options from a number of several offers on his table.

Even though Gor Mahia’s struggles infront of goal in the last couple of matches is evident, Rachier maintains that the FKFPL defending champions are in no hurry to sign a deadly finisher.

His sentiments come ahead of the much-awaited Mashemeji derby set for this weekend at Kasarani Stadium. The K’Ogalo honcho says derby knows no form, challenging Gor Mahia to rise to the occasion as they have done in previous encounters.

‘’We are in no hurry to sign a striker. I know the head coach has raised a genuine concern, but a derby does not depend on our current form whatsoever,’’ Rachier reiterated

”It should not come as a surprise. We have been engaging some good players in other departments, and before the close of this mid-season window, we may decide to pen a deal with them.’’

Gor Mahia have managed 36 points so far and a win against AFC Leopards on Sunday will be a morale booster as far as their title defence is concerned.
