Noah Lyles has expressed interest in taking on a new challenge after being inspired by Julien Alfred’s bold move.
Triple world champion Noah Lyles has opened up about the possibility of competing in the 300m, following Julien Alfred’s bold move.
The reigning Olympic 100m champion revealed that he competed over the distance once, the year he turned professional, in 2016.
Noah Lyles competed at the Blacksburg Virginia Tech Premier HS Invitational where he won the race, clocking 33.18 seconds to cross the finish line.

Watching Julien Alfred compete in the 300m at the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix gave Noah Lyles the motivation to go back and try the distance.
Julien Alfred competed in the 300m in her season opener at the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix where she clocked 36.16 to win the race.
Julien Alfred went ahead to compete at the Clemson Tiger Paw Invitational, racing in the 400m where she clocked 52.97 to win.

Postponed AFC Leopards clash vs Gor Mahia clash has been moved from the originally slated Nyayo Stadium.
“I was just talking to Tory about the last time I ran the 300m, it was my first year as a professional and broke the world record. I haven’t touched it since…so, eventually one of these fine days, I would like to get back to it,” Noah Lyles said in a previous interview.
Noah Lyles has been very vocal about trying new challenges and at the World Indoor Championships last year in Glasgow, Scotland, he was included in the men’s 4x400m that claimed a silver medal in the final.
His inclusion raised a lot of controversy but Noah Lyles seemed unbothered as he also requested to be included in the relay team to the Paris Olympic Games since he wanted to accomplish his quadruple goal, the 100m, 200m, 4x100m and 4x400m.
However, after his 100m victory at the Paris Olympic Games, Noah Lyles tested positive for the COVID-19 virus and could not accomplish his dream.
The three-time world 200m champion raced in the 200m where he secured a bronze medal behind Letsile Tebogo and Kenny Bednarek. He was a no-show in the men’s 4x100m relay.
As he targets the 300m, Noah Lyles will most likely want to go for Letsile Tebogo’s world best that he ran early last year at the Curro Podium Final where he clocked 30.69 seconds to clock a faster time than Wayde van Niekerk, Michael Johnson and Usain Bolt.
