American sprinter Ronnie Baker is excited about his comeback journey after years of struggling with injuries and mental anguish.

After the delayed 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games, Ronnie Baker explained that he went into a dark place and could not understand what was happening in his life.

At the event, Ronnie Baker finished fifth in the 100m final and also competed in the heats of the men’s 4x100m relay. After the event, he went down with injuries and struggled to bounce back.

His name was not heard in the streets of sprinting until this season, where he has been dominant in the indoor season. Noah Lyles and Christian Coleman had been dominating the sprinting scene, but now Ronnie Baker has announced his comeback.

Ronnie Baker started his season at the Belgrade Indoor Meeting where he claimed top honours before proceeding to the Czech Indoor Gala where he also won. Baker then won the Orlen Cup Łódź before claiming the title at the USA Indoor Championships.

“I’ve had so many injuries and then after 2021, after the Olympics, it really did number a number on me mentally. I mean, for the last four years, you guys follow track and field, from 2021 to 2024, I was basically nonexistent,” Ronnie Baker said in a video shared by Citius Mag.

“So, it’s just been really hard, but I knew deep down inside that I have what it takes to come here and perform at a high level. That’s why I’m here, it’s just been mental work, a lot of prayer really, and just changing some things physically.”

Ronnie Baker has also made significant changes in his training, working with a new coach to manage his weight. He is also consistently watching his diet as he looks forward to a great outdoor season.

“Last year and this year, I actually changed my weight change which is really good and then just worked on some other stuff like dieting and supplements. It’s been great, just the start of the season and I’m really excited just for the outdoors,” he shared.
