When did Kenyan police die?

In a statement, Godfrey Otunge, Kenyan commander in Haiti, said shootings occurred in the western Artibonite region, where Kenyan police were sent to completed Haiti gangs were conducting operations last week.

The death of the male officer becomes the first victim to the Kenyan team since arriving on June 25, 2024, to help the Caribbean nation deal with criminal gangs.

Foreign Secretary General Korir Sing'oei promised to provide detailed information on the incident.

“I am saddened by the loss of a Kenyan delegate sent to the MSS mission in Haiti. Additional information will be provided at the right time by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs,” Korir said.

Ruto has been eager to ensure Haiti's mission is successful, and recently urged African presidents to support such efforts.
