The victims, Mercy Rono (38) and Mercy Cherotich (30), fled from the church's altar after failing to withstand strokes.
How an attack on women happened in the church
Doctor Kelvin Kipchirchir Rift told TUKO.co.ke The attack was reportedly carried out by pasta with the help of other church ministers.
They later reported the incident to the Kapkwen Police Station before seeking treatment at the Bomet Health Center.
Bomet County Health Officer Felix Langat confirmed that the women suffered multiple injuries in their bodies.
After receiving treatment, they were returned to the police to fill out the P3 form.
The suspects escape from the church
Following the incident, Bomet County Police Commander Edward Imbaga issued an order to close the church immediately as police continued the search for the pastor and his colleagues who succeeded in escaping.
“We are investigating the state of registration of the Church and how it has been working for a long time. Reports indicate that most of its believers are women,” Commander Imbaga said.
The attack has sparked public outrage, with angry residents threatening to demolish the church if the leaders allow it to be reopened.

Meanwhile, the Sabbath service at the Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) church in Homa Bay County turned out to be a tragic attack when the attack took place in the pulpit.
Francis Opiyo, an elder of the church, was allegedly attacked on Saturday, February 1 by another elder before escaping the scene.
