How much money did Wafula Chebikati get paid after leaving the IEBC?
Former boss and commissioners of IEBC Boya Molu and Abdi Guliye received a total of KSh 32.7 million as compensation following their service.
A document of the Salary Commission (SRC) that describes the payments and benefits of government officials in constitutional all -time commissions states that the officer “Eligible for free payments at 31% of the annual pension payments.”
Considering that the IEBC chairman received a salary of KSh 554,400, KSh 200,000 housing privileges, and the KSh1 69,600 wage market repairs, with a total of KSh924,000 compensation, his payment of money was calculated as 31% of his revenue Basic for six years.
This took Chebikati payments to KSh 12.4 million, The Standard reported.
During their leadership, Molu and Guliye received a KSh 150,000 housing allowance and the KSh156,075 salary reform. Their monthly payments reached KSh 459,113 each.
The chairman received a salary of KSh 39.92 million after six years of service, with two commissioners each receiving KSh 33.06 million without benefits.

Why was Chebikati suffer from controversy?
Conflicts and political disputes revealed the Chebikati era as the IEBC chief.
Chebikati replaced the team led by Isaack Hassan and appointed by the president of the time Uhuru Kenyattawith commissioners Molu and Guliye.

The Supreme Court declared the results of the 2017 general election as invalid due to many flaws, thus marking the beginning of its difficult reign.

On September 1, 2017, the Supreme Court announced that the IEBC did not hold a destination election in accordance with constitutional rules, thus nullifying the victory of independence.

But a week before the repetition, Commissioner Roselyn Akombe resigned, claiming the commission was under political pressure and could not make a reliable election, thus increasing the chaos.
