According to the post, the death of the former chairman of IEBC Fula Chebikati shocked the nation.

But different people cried out to the man in charge of the last general election in different ways.

While some praised him as a hero who led the electoral body and made a reliable election, others showed him as a chairman who failed to use the opportunity to correct election mistakes.

Kenyans appeared on various platforms to be touched by his death, sharing their memories of the former chairman especially in the 2022 fierce competition.

2. The Star

The newspaper reported that Chebikati, who passed away on Thursday night, was unhappy with his retirement as he became ill shortly after leaving the troubled office in Anniversary Towers.

Chebikati, along with two of his colleagues, retired from January 2023 after managing a controversial election in which four commissioners – many – opposed the presidential results.

However, shortly afterwards, Chebikati became ill and reportedly exported for a thorough medical examination. Diagnosis is still unknown.

During his death at Nairobi Hospital, news circles said he had been diagnosed with brain cancer.

The veteran lawyer was also reported to be struggling with diabetes and high blood pressure. Chebikati was 64 when he passed away.

Before he was taken to Nairobi Hospital, where he was in a state of breath, he was under home care in Nairobi.

On Friday, his family said they had not yet made a decision to investigate a corpse or not.

He referred to the object as warm and gave dense smoke. Now, he suffers from chest pain, facial burns, and eyes fading, which he blames the incident.

Medical records indicate that he is being treated for skin diseases and chest pain, although no direct connection to the object has been confirmed.

Despite preliminary assessments pointing out there is no immediate health threat, questions about the nature of dirt and its effects, including cracked houses, have not yet been resolved, leaving the community concerned.

4. Nation Today

The Swahili newspaper reports that the governor of Meru Kawira Light, wants the judge to overturn the decision to remove him from the office, claiming that the county parliament and the Senate violated the Meru Supreme Court order, which had halted the process of exposing him.
