Letsile Tebogo has proven to be a champion beyond the track, selflessly rescuing stranded motorists during the Gaborone floods.
When Letsile Tebogo is not on the track running, he is busy serving his nation, his latest move having won the hearts of dozens of fans.
On Wednesday, the reigning Olympic 200m champion was spotted rescuing people in Gaborone with his truck amid the heavy rains that have caused flooding in the area and its environs.
He was very instrumental in helping the stranded drivers who had struggled to navigate the flooded roads and were on the verge of drowning. Not only did he rescue the drivers but he also helped them rescue their vehicles.

His acts of kindness quickly spread through social media, earning him high praise from the masses who pointed out that he is one of the kindest athletes they know.
World Athletics shared his video, captioning it: “Hero of the nation on and off the track ❤️.
“Olympic 200m champ @tebogo_letsile_ rescued stranded motorists whose cars were submerged due to the severe floodings Botswana is currently facing.”
Athlos, Alexis Ohanian’s women-only event added a comment on World Athletics’ post saying: “He’s got a heart of gold.”
Another Instagram user, Tumie Mpelega commented: “Just like your Medal 🥇, you have a pure Gold heart 💛… God Bless you.”

Meanwhile, the recent rains in Gaborone have led to flooding that has caused a lot of displacements and road closures with some schools also being closed indefinitely.
Letsile Tebogo’s bravery in showing up and helping his country people showcases his dedication and as he looks forward to a great 2025 season, Tebogo has already received blessings from the world.
He was reportedly ill during his season opener at the BAA Track And Field Series 2 where he finished second in the 400m.
Letsile Tebogo has since been confirmed for a series of competitions including the Maurie Plant Meet in Melbourne, and the Diamond League Meetings in Xiamen and Shanghai.
He rose to celebrity status after claiming the gold medal over favourite Noah Lyles in the men’s 200m at the Paris Olympic Games in 2024.
