The main suspect in the murder of former Kabete Member of Parliament (MP), the late George Muchai, Erick Muyera Isabwa on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, requested the court to avail his Identification Card (ID) for his child’s ID application.

Appearing before Milimani High Court judge Kanyi Kimondo, Isabwa told the court that his child has reached the age of getting an Identification Card but cannot continue with the application process without the father’s ID.

“Your honour, my child whom was eight years old when I was remanded is now 18-years-old and needs my ID which is in court as an exhibit to apply for their own, I request the court to avail it for easy processes,” Isabwa told the court.

The ID has been held by the High Court as an exhibit in Muchai’s murder case.

However, it emerged that the ID was used as an exhibit in both the murder case at High Court and robbery with violence case at the Lower Court.

The prosecuting team said that they will follow it up and respond on the accused application on Wednesday, February 19, 2025.

In an interesting turn of events, only one lawyer representing two of the seven accused people in the murder case of the late MP Muchai showed up in court for the hearing.

The rest of the accused lawyers did not turn up and did not notify the court that they were not attending the proceedings.

Judge Kimondo kept postponing the hearing time for the case till noon when he finally adjourned the hearing to Wednesday, February 19, 2025 at 9:30am.

The hearing proceedings for the murder case was to take place for two days on Tuesday, February 18, 2025 and Wednesday, February 19, 2025.

Kimondo directed the accused persons to inform their absentee lawyers on the next proceedings date and time to appear before him together with the accused.

MP Muchai was killed in Nairobi’s Central Business District (CBD) 10-years ago in the morning of February 7, 2015, when he was returning from a family dinner.

The armed persons who killed him emerged from another car and sprayed his car with bullets killing him, his two body guards and his driver.

After killing them the armed assailants stole two pistols from the bodyguards and a briefcase.
