Tresor makes triumphant return with new hit featuring Sofiya Nzau
Gikuyu lyricist and singer Sofiya Wanjiku, popularly known as Sofiya Nzau, is making waves on the global music scene, and her latest collaboration with African pop maverick Tresor proves just that.
This is after the fast-rising singer joined forces with the African pop icon to release the single “Wale Wale” in what was also supposed to be the singer’s highly anticipated return to music.
The lyric visualiser of the song was released on YouTube on February 7, 2025, and their collaboration marks a significant milestone in their careers as they blend their distinct sounds to deliver a joyous and uplifting anthem, celebrating the power of African melodies to resonate across borders.
According to Tresor, “Wale Wale” is deeply personal, and the song embodies a celebration of freedom, dreams, and the ability to live those dreams out loud.
In a press statement dated February 17, 2025, he went on to share, “This song is deeply personal to me. It’s a celebration of the freedom to dream boundlessly and live those dreams out loud.”
The collaboration with Sofiya Nzau, whose soaring vocals brought the global hit “Mwaki,” adds a layer of energy and soulful artistry that elevates the track.
Sofiya’s voice has swiftly become a beacon for East African music, and her innovative approach continues to captivate fans globally.
Her deep, soulful style honours Kenya’s rich musical heritage while embracing modern influences that bring a fresh edge to “Wale Wale.”
“Working with Sofiya Nzau was pure magic; her energy elevated the song to another level,” Tresor said, speaking on the synergy between them during the creation of the song.
The track, which fuses African house and pop elements, was crafted during a single inspired studio session where Tresor and Sofiya worked together to capture the song’s essence: a soundscape that exudes liberation, hope, and an infectious sense of joy.

As Tresor describes it, “The energy of this song is unlike anything I’ve done before. It’s joyful, uplifting, and a testament to the power of African melodies to resonate universally.”
“Wale Wale” represents a reinvigorated vision for Tresor, following his recent alignment with his newly opened Sunset Recording Studios in Stellenbosch, South
The track is not just a return for Tresor but the beginning of a new musical era, as he teased plans for more releases in 2025.
“This single is just the beginning, with plans to release more music this year in so many forms,” he added.
Collaborations
This collaboration comes on the heels of several other high-profile projects by Sofiya.
In October 2024, she teamed up with Nigerian superstar Fireboy DML and South African Grammy-winner Nomcebo Zikode for the release of “META,” a track that blends traditional African rhythms with contemporary sounds in a new genre called “3 Step.”
This genre, rooted in South Africa but blending influences from Kenya, Nigeria, and South Africa, seeks to reshape the global music scene in the same way Amapiano has. For Sofiya, “META” is an anthem of African unity, celebrating cultural diversity and the power of music to connect people across borders.
Just five months later, Sofiya once again proved her versatility, collaborating with German electronic artist Avaion on “Wacuka,” a track that has already garnered immense attention.
The song, which combines electronic beats with Sofiya’s signature soulful vocals, has generated viral momentum after its debut during Avaion’s For The Vibes tour, with clips gaining over 24 million views. The song was released under Sony Music.
