Khalif Kairo breaks the silence: “I'm not a scam, my business will just wake up”

The owner of the Kai and Cairo car company, known as the business name Khalif Kairo, was released from detention on January 31, 2025, after Mountains Chief Justice Lucas Onyina gave him a private Ksh3 million bond.

What follows for the Khalif Kairo automotive business?

When he visited TUKO.co.ke on Monday, February 17, for a broad interview, Cairo entered our offices with a happy face and a self -confident smile.

As a celebrity, he hit a few selfies with the team before we sat down for an exclusive interview.

“I'm a little quiet, trying to reorganize the company. We haven't left the forest but we work to make sure that the effect is swallowed,” Cairo described the current state of his business.

Cairo was sad that following recent cases in the court, Kai and Cairo closed his sales yard in Kiambu.

However, he assured customers and customers that the company would return within several months, holding that he was running a legitimate business.

The businessman revealed that he is currently in talks with prospective customers who will donate money to revive the business.

“We closed one of our shop in Kiambu and we have only been left with our Westlands office. I am currently involved with investors, I have a personal list of people who contact them, and not a fraud. I have 100% that we will leave the current situation,” He revealed.

How Khalif Kairo plans to revive his business

The young entrepreneur confirmed that his business was built on a solid basis touched by technology and innovation.

He linked this to the great presence of social networks that has given the business more powerful than competitors.

Kairo said the first step after reaching an agreement with investors would be to cancel the pending orders for customers within the shortest possible time.

“Kai and Cairo are a very creative company in terms of products we have built and it is our priority to ensure that we provide quality to our customers even when we run the current situation. We look forward to deleting orders in the shortest possible time which is our primary business,” The company owner confirmed.

The automotive seller noted that the company puts steps to ensure that in the next three or four years, it could launch more services and join in new markets.

“We have found that we are not running a good structure because we misuse our assets … if we do KSh 1.2m and sell 300 cars, that's not effective.

“So, we will be changing our style to move forward. We have been making many questions that cannot be addressed … so we will allow our competitors to take advantage of our site,” Cairo revealed.

Cairo also unveiled expansion plans for other markets outside Nairobi and Kiambu. He said he was contemplating expanding the business to the western part of the country, especially in Kakamega.

He confirmed that KSh 1 billion is not worth it but belongs to the company.

“It's because I own a company, I made a bad estimate on my net worth of light notes. It doesn't mean I have that money,” He explained.

What posed a challenge in Khalif Kairo's businesses?

In response to existing challenges, resulting from financial constraints, Kairo said his business was targeted by bloggers and its competitors.

However, he acknowledged that it was a kind of business, citing his experience in the industry for over a decade as a way to deal with the storm.

“We found ourselves in this state of humiliation because it is the nature of the business, all businesses should go through the challenges, especially those that are starting that are likely to collapse due to the challenges of the cash flow raised by customers and banking disbelief.

“I have traded a car business for over 10 years, and have sold over 2000 cars, there are people who know my story, I am crucified because the company has failed to provide 10 to 15 cars, but 2,000 customers can prove that I am doing a valid business,” Said Cairo.

The businessman confirmed the validity of the Kai and Cairo vehicles, saying its shipment was 95%.

He assured customers that the duration of the decline would not reduce the company's enthusiasm and commit to better service.

“We have bad cultures in Kenya where people are willing to stoned you but they can't admit what you have done, the foundation you have built. He added.

Are some car dealers going through challenges?

Kairo noted that the Kai and Cairo company is not the only automotive company that has faced market challenges, citing Mobius and CMC Motors.

“We are the only ones facing the challenge. The industry situation faces. Last year Mobius was closed, and the CMC group closed its doors in January,” He said.

On January 14, 2025, Cairo was released on bail of KSh 1 million in cash in two separate cases of crime after staying in custody for three days.

Cairo publicly appeared for the first time following allegations that his former business partners at Imports by Kairo had changed him into a lucrative contract.
