Comedian and skit maker Crazy Kennar, born Kennedy Odhiambo, has revealed the shock he experienced upon discovering that the producer of his latest film, My Name is Omosh, had enlisted renowned rapper King Kaka as the film’s director.

Speaking to Youtubers just hours after the movie’s grand premiere at Century Cinemax, Sarit Centre, in an interview that was shared by SPM Buzz on Monday, February 17, 2025, Kennar recalled his initial disbelief at the revelation, admitting that he thought King Kaka would be too elusive to bring on board.

However, to his surprise, the rapper showed up during production and fully embraced the role.

“So, the moment we picked the producer, he said, ‘Let me get you a director.’ And then he mentioned King Kaka. I was like, ‘Are you sure you’re going to get King Kaka to direct this film?’” Kennar recounted.

Kennar, who also expressed his excitement over the premiere selling out completely, further disclosed that King Kaka officially joined the production team in mid-January.

He then went further to detail how the ‘Wajinga Nyinyi’ crooner was present even during their very first brainstorming session and how he surprised them with an impressive grasp of the film’s vision.

“To my surprise, during our first meeting around January 20th, King Kaka already had the entire concept mapped out. He told us straight up that he was going to direct this movie,” Kennar revealed, crediting the rapper for stepping up and perfectly executing the role.

My Name is Omosh

The film, My Name is Omosh, is a 1-hour, 37-minute feature based on a true story, starring acclaimed Kenyan actors Austin Muigai and Nixsha Shah in lead roles.

The film was written by Crazy Kennar, and on February 7, 2025, he took to X to announce that he was so happy at how his career was unfolding, as this was the first time he was appearing in a movie he had written himself and in which he was still the main cast.

“My 1st time writing and acting in a 1hr 37-minute film. All I can say is that the experience was magical👌 BTS moments @my_name_is_omosh production😀 Working with the best minds and talents to produce this pure comedy gold! We will be taking you on a memorable experience full of laughter and love. February 15th is the date,” he posted.

A sneak peek he shared online reveals that it chronicles the life of Omosh, the character he played, as an ambitious creative navigating the struggles of job hunting while trying to make ends meet.

The film also delves into his love life, portraying a series of heartbreaks before he ultimately falls for a high-profile woman.

In one of the movie’s most talked-about scenes, Omosh lands a job interview but, in a desperate attempt to impress his potential employers, mistakenly slaps one of them.

The mishap results in him being told not to bother following up on his application as the company would reach out if interested.

Seasoned creator

Kennar’s venture into filmmaking marks a bold new chapter in his career. In April 2024, the comedian stunned fans by announcing his move to South Africa to pursue film studies, aiming to elevate his brand on a global scale.

Kennar shared the news on social media with photos outside Johannesburg’s Atlas Studios while sharing that the opportunity was lief-changing for him and that he was so eager to see what would unfold from it.

“Blessed Man! A new level of entertainment unlocked,” he wrote. “Journey with me as I share my life as a local genius Kenyan creator studying in South Africa, living between Kenya and SA, while creating content across the world. More content loading…”

This major career shift came just months after Kennar hosted his sold-out Happy Country comedy show at KICC—an emotional night that followed the tragic loss of his infant son.

Despite the heartbreak, Kennar delivered an unforgettable performance and shared that he had held himself from being emotional because he loves his fans.
