He won against Raila of Kenya and Richard Randriamandrato of Madagascar; Mahmoud is now inheriting Moussa Faki.

Nyeri residents could not hide their happiness that the opposition leader returned home saying they wanted him to be in the politics of the country.
In an interview with Citizen television, locals had a lot to say about Raila's loss. One said:
“I'm called Agnes Kirigo, my father's loss made me happy. I was wondering no boy that Kenya would take him forward and help him.
Mama vegetarian from Karatina also shared her happiness and the reason for her to celebrate Raila's loss.
“We are glad God has brought the Father back to us, now we want him to go into parliament and stand firm as before, he will reveal all the secrets of our children where they go, we welcome him and we want him to return,” Said the vegetable mother.
Some were saddened by how high cost of living and penalty tariffs affect them, and now they want Raila to return to his opposition hat.

In a similar report, a woman from Siaya County described how she was disappointed after Raila lost her mission of becoming the next chairman of the AUC.
Elizabeth Auma Oduor, a resident of Siaya, during an interview with Citizen TV, said she was saddened by the results shortly after the AUC results were announced.
He also noted that he hoped the veteran politician would consider running for the top seat during the 2027 general election.
