Timothy Ouma made his Slavia Prague debut with the club’s reserve team, leaving fans surprised after they had hoped to watch him straight in the top flight.
Harambee Stars midfielder Timothy Ouma is set to make his debut for his new club Slavia Prague but he will not start his new chapter in the top flight.
Ouma will instead play his first match for the Czech giants with the club’s second-string team after being named in the starting XI for Friday’s home match against LASK.
“SKSBtym plays from 13:30 on the artificial grass in Eden with LASK reserve. Timothy Ouma is also in the starting line-up, Boluwatife Ogungbayi is on the bench after a long injury,” the club said through a social media post.
Kenyan international Timothy Ouma ditched Swedish club Elfsborg for Slavia Prague and here is everything you need to know about the Czech giants.
The news caught fans by surprise as they had expected Ouma to begin his chapter in Prague in the top flight after the club spent Ksh473 million to sign him from Swedish club Elfsborg last month.
It is not certain if Ouma has fitness issues that he perhaps needs to fix before being included in the senior team as he had been performing exceptionally for Elfsborg in the Europa League before his transfer to Prague.
Fans will be hoping that it is just part of the adaptation process for the 20-year-old as it would be a major surprise if he was to start playing in the reserve league after such a huge outlay as well as the qualities he displayed in Sweden.
The midfielder was not included in Slavia Prague’s 2-0 win away to FK Pardubice last weekend but it was hoped that he would make his top flight debut this week when they face Ostrava on Sunday before his surprise appearance with the youth team.
