Usain Bolt has rejected Noah Lyles’ claim that he is the world’s fastest man, insisting the American must break his records to earn the title.
Kerr took to Instagram to share his thoughts following his withdrawal expressing disappointment but also trust in his coaching team’s decision.
“The build-up for a race is an arduous process. I was gutted to not toe the line, but I trust my coaching staff and the decisions made. Congratulations to the records set. It’s an exciting time to be a miler in the sport. Eyes on GST,” he wrote.
His absence from the Millrose Games was a major blow for fans hoping to see him compete against Nuguse, but Kerr remains focused on the bigger picture.
The British middle-distance star has his eyes set on the upcoming track season and is approaching it with a strategic mindset.
In an interview with Citius Mag during the Millrose Games, Kerr discussed his goals for the indoor season, clarifying that breaking records is not his primary objective.
“I’m not here for a world record. That’s not really where my eyes go. I just want to come out with a win. For me, I’m focused on the competitors, focused on their moves. I have a pretty solid game plan for what I think is going to happen,” he explained as per SportKeeda.
Kerr emphasized the importance of execution, stating that a great performance is the natural result of smart race strategy and discipline.
He is not chasing records but instead prioritizing the tactical aspects of each race, ensuring that he is prepared for every move his competitors might make.
