Gabby Thomas’ dedication to punctuation is as enthusiastic as her dedication on the track.
Olympic sprinter Gabby Thomas is known for her speed on the track, but she’s also making a strong stance on grammar—specifically, the Oxford comma.
In a recent video, Thomas passionately argued for the necessity of the often-debated punctuation mark.
“I do have a very strong opinion on the Oxford comma, so I hope you are not on the wrong side of that,” she said in an Interview with Grand Slam Track.
“The Oxford comma is necessary, and if you don’t use it, it’s a problem. It’s problematic.”
Taking the debate to the track, Thomas even suggested polling fellow athletes at Grand Slam Track meets.
“First, we will tell you what it is, and then make a decision from there,” she added.

Even for eilte Olympians like Gabby Thomas, the pressures of track and filed can sometime get overwhelming and she has her own way of getting away from it.
Doubling down on her stance, the Harvard graduate later reposted the video on X (formerly Twitter), writing, “A hill I will absolutely die on.”
Her comments sparked a lively discussion among fans, with many applauding her dedication to grammatical precision.

Michael Johnson’s inaugural Grand Slam Track has now secured a broadcast deal, a key component that had made Noah Lyles hesitant to sign.
The debate over the Oxford comma—whether to include a comma before the final conjunction in a list—has long divided writers, editors, and now, apparently, track stars.
Beyond grammar, Thomas is gearing up for a highly anticipated season on the track.
The 200m sprint queen is expected to compete in several meets of the Grand Slam Track league, where she will face off against top-tier competition as she builds momentum for major championships.
