Young man put on defence over threats to kill – Kenya News Agency






A- 29-year-old man accused of threatening to kill a woman using a razor sharp panga has been put on his defence by a Kabarnet court.

Senior Resident Magistrate (SRM), Edwin Mulochi, in his ruling stated that the prosecution witnesses who testified against Enock Mutai have proven a prima facie case against the accused.

The charge sheet stated that on October 11, 2024, at 4pm at Kimoso village in Baringo Central sub county, Baringo County, Mutai willfully and unlawfully uttered words threatening to kill Julia Tuitoek while armed with a panga.

SRM Mulochi noted that he had reviewed the evidence on record and was satisfied that a prima facie case had been established against the accused.

The magistrate said that the accused charged with threatening to kill contrary to section 223(1) of the penal code is supposed to give unsworn defence according to section 211 of the criminal code.

Mr Mulochi reiterated that due to the negative sentiments adduced before the, court, the accused will remain in custody until February 21 when he will appear for the defence hearing.
