Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has stated that all meetings held at his home in Wamunyoro in Nyeri county are not just for the benefit of the Mount Kenya region but for the entire country.

Speaking during a joint media interview, Gachagua said that the meetings were aimed at consulting various stakeholders from different parts of the country to understand the challenges facing Kenya’s leadership and the difficulties citizens are experiencing.

Since his impeachment, Gachagua has been holding discussions with various groups, including businesspeople, religious leaders, retired civil servants, elected officials, youth, and Gen Z representatives.

The former dp revealed that even government officials have been engaging with him, seeking his views on political and economic matters.

“I have been engaging in extensive conversations with various people to seek political advice and gain a deeper understanding of the current state of the country. These discussions have included leaders from different sectors, businesspeople, religious figures, and ordinary citizens who share their perspectives on governance and national challenges.I want to clarify that I have not been asking them for anything in return. Whatever they bring when they visit is purely out of their own goodwill. People come to me not because they expect favors, but because they believe in my integrity. They see me as a truthful man, someone they can trust to listen to their concerns and advocate for meaningful change,” he said.

Gachagua dismissed claims that those visiting him are seeking financial assistance, making it clear that he has no money to give.

“Everybody is welcome, but they do not come here to get anything. Women and the youth have been helping me with hosting visitors, and people come here because they believe in this cause,” he added.

Gachagua explained, the meetings were meant for leaders from the Mount Kenya region to discuss issues affecting the region. However, as more people from other parts of the country began showing interest, the conversations expanded to cover broader national matters. This, he said, has contributed to the delay in unveiling his political party.

“When I started these meetings, they were only for the Mountain, but later, people from other regions joined. That is why I have delayed unveiling my party. The talks are still ongoing for now,” he noted.

Gachagua admitted that political tensions in the country have worsened.

“Things have gone from bad to worse, the govermant is taking kenyans for granted and thats why they are coming in large numbers to my home to tell me the challenges,” he said.
