‘We are going to hit it hard’- American sprinter pauses racing to fine-tune for US Trials

The former world indoor champion is focusing on training to address weaknesses after three indoor races as he prepares for the US trials.

American sprinter Trayvon Bromell will not be competing in any other race ahead of the US trials for the World Indoor Championships in Nanjing, China.

The former world indoor champion has already competed in three indoor races on his way back from injuries to asses his body and now, he will go back to training to address all the weak areas he noted with his coach Mike Ford.

He started his season at the Texas Tech Corky Classic, winning the 60m race before heading to the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix where he finished fifth in the race won by Olympic 100m champion Noah Lyles.

The former world indoor champion is making a bold return, sending warnings to Noah Lyles, Letsile Tebogo, and others.

Trayvon Bromell did not waste time as he lined up for the 60m at the Millrose Games, finishing second in the tight race after clocking a season-best time of 6.59 seconds.

“After these races, we are going to hit it hard and come the USA’s, we are going to be ready. We are going to get back to the drawing board to fix the things that we need to fix since this was the kind of the whole plan,” Trayvon Bromell said in an interview with Citius Magazine.

He explained that the race at the Millrose Games showed him how much progress he had made and admitted that there was light at the end of the tunnel.

The former world bronze medallist revealed that he did not have time to train before the event and having executed the race much better was a good sign.

He singled out the second phase of his 60m race was what cost him a win in the race and noted that it is something he will address with his coach.

“I feel good, the biggest thing that I’ve seen on my replay is that my second half of the race could have been better but I was happy with my first half,” Trayvon Bromell said.

“I felt like my position in the blocks didn’t set me up for a better second half but this race I felt better coming through the 30m mark and now it’s just all about working on those things.

“I feel like this race was interesting because there is nothing I could have worked on going into the second race so it was all about giving it my all or nothing. There is a lot of teaching myself that I have to do to get back into my form.”

Trayvon Bromell suffered an injury setback in 2024 after competing at the 13th Savona International Meeting and needed surgery to get back to his great shape.
