Gor Mahia’s Ghanaian midfield maestro Enock Morrison has been earning widespread praise for his impressive performances, six months after joining K’Ogalo from Asante Kotoko.
Despite being a defensive midfielder, Morrison has thrived in a more advanced role, especially in the absence of Austin Odhiambo, who has been sidelined since sustaining an injury during their clash against Tusker in January.
Morrison’s impact has not gone unnoticed by Gor Mahia fans, who have already embraced him as one of their own, affectionately nicknaming him ‘Onyango,’ a traditional Dholuo name.

His latest heroics came in the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League clash against Mathare United, where he netted the winning goal from the penalty spot in a hard-fought 2-1 victory at the Dandora Stadium on Saturday evening.
The match saw Mathare United take an early lead in the 15th minute through Ellie Asieche’s bullet header, courtesy of a pinpoint cross from Sammy Imbuye.
However, Gor Mahia responded swiftly, equalizing in the 30th minute when centre-back Alphonce Omija headed in Morrison’s well-placed free kick.
The Ghanaian then sealed the win in the 76th minute after Samuel Kapen was fouled in the box by Daniel Mukok, confidently converting the resulting penalty.
Morrison’s recent form has been nothing short of sensational. In the preceding fixture, he provided two assists as Gor Mahia edged out Posta Rangers 2-1, further solidifying his growing influence in the team. Speaking after the win over Mathare United, Morrison expressed his relief and gratitude.
“It feels amazing. I want to thank the supporters and the almighty for the three points. It has not been easy, but we are grateful for the victory,” he said.
Gor Mahia currently sit third on the FKF Premier League table with 34 points, four behind joint leaders Kenya Police and Tusker, who played out a goalless draw in Machakos on Saturday. However, Morrison remains focused on his team’s performances rather than the standings.
“As a player and as a team, we have to focus on our results. If we do well, anything is possible. We are not looking at other teams—we can only focus on ourselves. What is important is to win our matches, and then we can relax and watch our opponents.”
When asked about his recent surge in form, Morrison credited his advanced role on the pitch, emphasizing his willingness to contribute in any capacity.
“I am playing more offensively. I have not changed much from playing defensive midfield. The only difference is that I am now providing killer passes, and when I get the chance, I try my luck at scoring,” he explained. “Nothing has really changed, but as a player, you have to be ready to deliver. I am the kind of player who can still do well even if I was played at left back.”
Morrison remains optimistic about Gor Mahia’s title chase, urging fans to continue believing in the team’s potential.
“It is possible. Everyone needs to keep believing. I promise the fans we will not let them down. We can still catch up with those at the top—just keep believing.”
