Ruto holds talks with US Foreign Minister about Haiti Mission

What did William Ruto discuss with Trump's foreign minister?

In a statement on social networks, Ruto said Kenya and Marejani held talks with the two countries confirming their commitment to strengthen cooperation.

They also discussed Kenya's peacekeeping mission in Haiti.

Ruto said their talks confirmed that the United States had not removed its contribution to multinational messages Security Support (MSS) in the Caribe nation.

He said they both acknowledged the need to maintain the speed of the mission and its role in bringing about Haiti's stability and restoring stability.

“Our negotiations confirmed that the United States has removed its support from the International Security Assistance (MSS) delegation in Haiti due to a comprehensive termination of government support,” Ruto's statement said in part.

The president said he and Rubio also discussed the next joint meeting between the Southern African Development Community (SADC) and the East African Community (EAC) to address security issues in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo.

The meeting is scheduled for Friday, February 7, and Saturday, February 8, in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
