The widow of former AFC Leopards winger Ezekiel Otuoma, Rachael, has fiercely clapped back at a section of her fans after they failed to understand a prank that her boss and co-workers pulled on her.
Rachael lashed out at the fans during a TikTok live on the night of Wednesday, February 5, 2025, after she had already left work and gone out for dinner with her best friend, Bancy.
As is customary for her, she had gone live to update fans about her life before she began expressing her disappointment at those who had already started reading too much into the prank, assuming it was real and factual.
About the prank
Though much is yet to be unraveled in a YouTube video she has teased will be dropping today, Thursday, February 6, 2025, a snippet shared by one of her colleagues—alongside herself—showed her being dramatically accused of something before being arrested.
The video first shows her in disbelief over the accusation before she gets visibly angry, picks up her bags, and storms out as if she had quit her job.
Upon seeing the clip, many of her TikTok fans began sharing it, unknowingly spreading the narrative that she had been arrested at work while she was live on TikTok—much to her own shock.
“Twende nalo. Don’t forget to subscribe to my YouTube channel; we have a very, very interesting story kesho. Nimetoka tu job nikasema acha nipumzike nikule tu pork yangu pole pole. Kesho tukiingia job, phones store, on Thursday ni phone store. Walioshinda kwa maisha ya watu ya Rachael itawashangaza sana coz nitakuwa nawapatia hii inasambaratika inakuwa opposite. Lazima sometime hii TikTok tubumburushe itetemeke kidogo. You confuse them until they mind their own business. Nataka kutetemesha hii TikTok mpaka mkose kusema kitu mnasema.”
Quelling naysayers
While at it, Rachael—who recently buried her husband after his battle with an excruciating motor neurone disease—clarified that pranks like these are good and that she will be pulling them off from time to time to silence backbiters.
She explained that the video was purely a prank, carefully orchestrated to generate buzz and drive traffic to her TikTok and YouTube channels.
She pointed out that people tend to be drawn to negativity, paying more attention to it than to actual facts.
“I wanted to give you something to talk about today, and I have given you. Sasa jioni yote ni Rachael Otuoma, Rachael Otuoma. Hata hainibabishi. You should know that some things lazima ufanye ndio some things work. Ati eee ametoka mapema, eee ati bwanake amekufa, eee ati job job ameshikwa… I give you what you want to see.”
Life as a widow
Since her husband’s passing on December 21, 2024, Rachael has remained a trending topic on the popular video-sharing app, with fans continuously sending her messages of comfort while others discuss the burial and life of her late husband.
During this period, she was fortunate to land an all-expenses-paid vacation to Mombasa.
Rachael kept fans updated from the moment she boarded the plane to when she landed in the coastal city, sharing snaps of her vacation while expressing that she was truly having the time of her life.
The TikToker laid her husband to rest on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at their home in Gem Ramula, Siaya County, in an emotional ceremony that saw hundreds of TikTokers attend.
Otuoma had been her longtime partner since she was just past her teenage years, and in another live session, she declared that she now wears both their rings and has no plans of ever taking them off.
