The minister said the problems of the system were caused by a large number of Kenyans who have registered under the new Health Insurance Program, which he said is much larger than those previously registered at the National Health Insurance (NHIF).
“We had very few people with NHIF. Now we have over 18 million people who have registered under Shif. he added.

Barasa announced that the ministry had accepted the cases of system interruptions, and they were working to handle it quickly.
He revealed the acquisition of a new sava that would help in the process.

MPs Provide 2 Weekly Declarations on Sha Challenges Shif
MPs made a strong decision to address issues that are going on with Shif.
The order was issued during a central break of the parliamentary term aimed at addressing important national issues, including health.
MPs raised concerns about the failure of several performance within the SH, especially poor communication, financial shortages, and lack of Shif implementation strategies, which have replaced NHIF.
They focused on problems such as system problems, delayed approval of medical procedures, and the total suffering of patients trying to access health care under the new system.
Speaker Moses Wetang'ula instructed the Chairman of the National Assembly Committee on Health, Robert Pukose, to prepare a detailed report on all issues raised by MPs.
MPs have given two weeks to provide a detailed report that explains not only current challenges but also to recommend solutions that can be implemented.
