Residents of Siaya County have been left with a surprise after a police officer allegedly stabbed two patients in the hospital.
It is said the officer was admitted to Rarieda County Hospital before turning to his fellow patients.
According to the hospital's leadership, the incident took place on Sunday night.
The screaming patients shocked the nurses and clinic officers at work, who fled the scene.
The hospital said that the police officer, who was serving at the Aram police station, stabbed a 14 -year -old boy in the neck and a 20 -year -old relative.
It took the intervention of hospital guards and other staff to control the police officer, who was about to attack a third patient.
Patients who have suffered injuries with a knife are treated at the same hospital, with one of them being referred to an examination.
Confirming the incident, Siaya County Police Commander, Serah Koki, said the officer was handed over to his police officers who were arrested at the scene.
“The officer has been ill,” Koki told TUKO.co.ke.
“The matter is now being investigated by the Criminal Investigation Department (DCI) to identify the next steps,” he added.
