Comedian Henry Desagu has come out to appeal for financial support to fund his treatment for depression.
In a statement shared via his official Instagram page on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, Desagu explained that he was struggling with his mental health and that he would wish to get support to continue treatment.
“We are reaching out to all of you for help. Desagu needs our support now more than ever, both financially and emotionally. We want to ensure he gets the proper treatment he deserves and that he’s supported after his time in the hospital to rebuild his life.
“He’s currently in the hospital, receiving treatment, including ECT (Electroconvulsive Therapy) as advised by his doctor. The road to recovery will take time, and it’s essential that he receives not only medical care but also financial support for his treatment, ongoing care, and a fresh start when he’s back on his feet,” part of the statement reads in parts.
Donations can be done through the phone number 0700489617 under the name Ithagu Kibicho.
Desagu became centre of public debate following his sorry state after facing financial challenges.
Fundraising campaign
Quarters have come forth to speak on his situation and urge Kenyans to hold his hand and help him out of the situation.
Led by Gatundu North Member of Parliament (MP) Kururia Elijah, the well wishers expressed their support and wished the comedian a quick recovery.
“We will not watch as this great boychild, Henry DeSagu, whose comedy brings laughter to all of us, is brought down by depression and alcoholism. We will pray for his recovery, have him get quality medical attention and get our lively Desagu back,” the MP said.
So far, a fundraising campaign has been launched with the goal of raising one million to help with the treatment costs.
