Comedian and scriptwriter Eddie Butita has spoken out about his relationship status, revealing that he is currently not dating.
Speaking to content creator and YouTuber President Law on Monday, February 3, 2025, Butita shared that he cannot define his current relationship status as dating, joking that he still struggles to accept the idea that he’s not in a relationship.
Butita was responding to Law’s question about why he is not seen with anyone or why there is no buzz surrounding him being with someone.
In his response, Butita explained that he cannot commit to either side of the situation, adding that he is currently in the process of trying to win someone’s heart.
“Why do you think you’re single at this age?” Law asked the SPM Buzz CEO.
“I don’t think I’m single, and I don’t think I’m dating. Nikop hapa hapa, niko katika harakati ya kutega na kutenda,” Butita replied.
Butita then added an interesting twist, explaining that while he personally would not consider himself in a relationship, there is a woman somewhere who believes they are together.
“Naeza sema niko single lakini kuna mtu anafikiria namdate,” he said.
The comedian went on to express his dilemma, saying that if he were to publicly acknowledge dating someone, it would immediately spark curiosity, with people demanding to know who the mystery woman is.
“Naeza sema nadate, watu waanze kujiuliza ni nani,” he explained.
Spending on ladies
Butita was then put on the spot to reveal the most money he has ever spent on a woman he was dating, and his response left President Law calling him stingy.
This came after Butita disclosed that the highest amount he had ever splurged on a lady was Ksh250.
However, he defended himself, saying that this doesn’t make him stingy since Ksh250 is a lot compared to smaller amounts like Ksh50, which some women receive.
“The highest amount I’ve spent on a lady is Ksh250. That’s not being stingy. Ningekuwa nimespend Ksh50 ndio ningekuwa stingy,” he said.
However, the comedian may have been joking, as he has previously been spotted making extravagant gestures for women.
One of the most viral instances was when he and his then-rumored girlfriend, Sadia, arrived at Akothee’s wedding at the Windsor Hotel in a helicopter, leaving fans buzzing.
At the time, reports of their relationship were unconfirmed, but days later, Sadia came forward to verify that they were romantically involved.
Sadia took to Instagram, throwing shade at those questioning when they had started dating, stating that what mattered was their love for each other.
“Haijalishi tulianza lini kupendana. Bora tunapendana na tunaendelea,” she said.
Rumors about the pair dating began circulating in 2023, fueled by a heartfelt birthday message in which Sadia celebrated Butita as “the most amazing human,” adding heart emojis to the post.
