Ryan Ogam addresses Tusker future amid Interest from Algerian giants

Tusker’s Ryan Ogam has set an obliterating goal-target for the club this season despite interest from Algerian outfit.

Tusker FC’s red-hot striker Ryan Ogam has spoken out about his future with the club amid reports that Algerian giants USM Alger have activated his release clause, paving the way for a possible transfer before the window closes.

Ogam, who has taken the FKF Premier League by storm with an impressive 15 goals in 14 matches in his debut season, has drawn significant attention, with USM Alger reportedly triggering his USD 30,000 (KES 3.9 million) release clause.

Tusker is, however, reluctant to let their top scorer leave and has accused the North African club of illegally approaching the player.

These are the seven Harambee Stars players who could miss CHAN 2024 on homesoil this August due to moves abroad.

Despite the ongoing transfer speculation, Ogam remains committed to the Brewers and insists any move will be carefully considered with the club and his management.

“I am a Tusker player for now. Interests are there, but we can always sit down with the team alongside my management,” Ogam told reporters earlier this week.

“We will sit down and see which offer is the best, but as it stands, I am a Tusker FC player.”

While his potential departure looms, Ogam has his sights firmly set on maintaining his remarkable goal-scoring form and possibly hitting the 30-goal mark by the end of the season.

Michael Olunga welcomes ex-Chelsea star Hakim Ziyech to Al Duhail

Michael Olunga could be a major beneficiary of Hakim Ziyech’s playmaking as Al Duhail aims to reclaim the league title.

“When the season started, I wanted to score 10 goals, but as it progressed, I found myself scoring 15, so I reached my target and surpassed it.”

“There are games coming up, and there is a need to add more. There is a lot of competition. My target is to keep scoring and hopefully reach 30 goals at the end of the season.”

Ogam, who was named the Sports Journalist Association of Kenya (SJAK) Sports Personality of the Month for January, credits his teammates for his explosive start to life in the top flight.

“I thank my teammates because without them, Ryan Wesley could not be top scorer.

“They have built a platform for me, not just on the pitch but off it. There is a good mixture of youth and experienced players, and the old guard have really helped me.”

“It is my first season. I thought I would start shakily and then pick it up in the second season, but I thank God because His grace has opened up for me.”

With USM Alger’s bid on the table and Tusker FC pushing back, it remains to be seen whether Ogam will remain in Kenya or head north. However, for now, the striker is keeping his focus on firing the Brewers to glory.
