The two English clubs & French side that lost Ksh473m bidding war for Harambee Stars midfielder

Kenyan midfielder Timothy Ouma is close to being unveiled by Slavia Prague but he would have been in England or France right now had the Czech side not won the bidding war.

Harambee Stars midfielder Timothy Ouma is reportedly close to being unveiled by Czech side Slavia Prague after completing his move from Swedish club IF Elfsborg.

Ouma is reported to have completed the formalities of his deal on Tuesday with his unveiling set for this weekend and it has emerged that the midfielder, who was linked with a host of clubs in Europe, would have moved to either England or France, had the other interested clubs met the asking price.

In the final days of his transfer, there was a bidding war involving English Championship clubs Luton Town and Sheffield United as well as French side St-Etienne and Slavia Prague.

The former Nairobi City Stars player has reportedly finalized his big-money transfer to the Czech giants after days of speculation.

However, with IF Elfsborg insisting on a 40 million Kronor (Ksh473 million) fee, the other clubs were outbid by Slavia Prague, leading to his transfer to the Czech Republic.

As per Football League World, Luton and Sheffield United were the first in the race for the player. But in the end, it was between St-Etienne and Slavia Prague, with Slavia Prague paying the highest price and securing the transfer.

Elfsborg Daily revealed on Monday the terms of the deal between Elfsborg and Slavia Prague that allowed Ouma to complete the move.

Timothy Ouma is set to join Czech giants Slavia Praha from Elfsborg, but the metrics show why Premier League clubs, such as Bretford, will continue monitoring his progress ahead of a potential move there in future.

“Elfsborg sells Timothy Ouma to Slavia Prague for over 40 million kronor. The transfer is complete, the medical examination has been completed, and Elfsborg has over 20% in the resale clause. Presentation is expected this weekend,” Elfsborg Daily posted on X.

The former Nairobi City Stars player joined Elfsborg in 2022 and became a key player for the club and had made 13 Europa League appearances this season, scoring two goals and providing an assist, before the transfer to Prague.
