Harambee Stars forward’s Iranian club attacks Pitso Mosimane following abrupt departure over pay dispute

The Iranian club, home to Harambee Stars forward Masoud Juma, has chosen a gloves off approach towards the veteran South African coach after he terminated his contract this week.

Esteghlal, the Iranian club that Harambee Stars striker Masoud Juma plays for, has gone on the offensive towards South African coach Pitso Mosimane who ditched them this week.

Mosimane terminated his contract with Esteghlal after going for months without receiving his pay, having joined the club last October on a two-year deal.

The former Mamelodi Sundowns and Al Ahly coach had given the club a two-week ultimatum early this month to pay his dues or he would terminate his contract on and on Tuesday, he lived true to his threat, when the payment had not been made by then.

Kenyan striker Masoud Juma faces uncertainty at Esteghlal FC after the club’s South African head coach Pitso Mosimane decided to make a career-defining decision.

No sooner had Mosimane left than Esteghlal went on the offensive, terming him a failure through a series of social media attacks.

“Pitso Mosimane has terminated his contract with Esteghlal. A one-day delay in his final payment was all it took for him to walk away from the Famous Royal Blues,” the club posted on X on Wednesday.

“The Aabiha endured one of the darkest periods in the club’s history under the South African,” they went on.

Esteghlal then went ahead and posted Mosimane’s record at the club, highlighting how he won just three of his 15 games in charge, drawing eight and losing four, while his side managed to score seven goals while conceding 13.

“For weeks, victory felt like a myth, chances wasted like whispers in the wind,” the club went hard again on Mosimane on Thursday.

“A new day, a new match—will Esteghlal finally break free from the ghosts of the past and find the back of the net more times than the opponents?” they posed ahead of their next league match.

Mosimane has left the club in 11th position in the Iranian top flight but it appears it was a bitter fallout and with the club delaying to pay him, it seems like the matter could be headed to FIFA, given how Esteghlal have decided to burn the bridges.
