The incident has undoubtedly sparked debate over the adequacy of security measures in Kenyan prisons.
Kware's murder suspect is leaving under police officer
In August 2024, Collins Jumaisi Khalusha, the main suspect in Kware's murder, escaped from the hands of police at Gigiri Police Station, Nairobi.
Jumaisi, who admitted to killing 42 women, including his wife, between 2022 and July 2024, was among the 13 prisoners who succeeded in escaping. The escape occurred in an amazing atmosphere at dawn, when the group cut the roof of the wire holes and lifted the circuit wall to independence.
The escape also raised serious questions about security protocols within the center, with preliminary investigations pointing to “domestic work.”
Then Nairobi Regional Commander Adamson Parliament confirmed the escape, noting that a search was immediately launched to arrest Jumais and 12 others escaped, who were Eritrean citizens who were banned for immigration violations.
Eight police officers were detained and five charged with charges of helping to escape.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) has since appealed to reports that could cause the week to be arrested again, but without success.
