Michael Johnson has shared his favorite group in the upcoming Grand Slam Track league, highlighting his passion for the men’s long sprints.

American sprint icon Michael Johnson has revealed his favorite group from the upcoming Grand Slam Track (GST) league  which is set to debut this spring. 

Johnson, who holds the prestigious title of two-time Olympic gold medalist in the 400 meters, shared his personal preference despite his official role as the GST commissioner. His pick? The Men’s long sprints category, which features the exciting 200m and 400m races.

The GST league, scheduled to kick off between April 4-6 in Jamaica, will travel to Miami, Philadelphia, and Los Angeles for additional events.

The competition will showcase some of the world’s best athletes in track and field, with several top-tier runners already confirmed. This includes celebrated 400m specialists such as Jereem Richards, Matthew Hudson-Smith, Muzala Samukonga, and the current Olympic champion in the 400m, Quincy Hall.

“As Commissioner I’m probably not supposed to have a favorite group. This is my favorite group! I Yeah I said it!,” Johnson said in a recent tweet. 

However, his enthusiasm for the long sprints category, particularly the 200m and 400m events, seemed to outweigh the need for neutrality. 

The GST league has attracted a strong lineup of elite athletes, especially in the men’s long sprints.
