Christian Coleman (born March 6, 1996) is an American professional track and field sprinter who competes in the 60m, 100m and 200m.

Born to Seth and Daphne Coleman in Atlanta, Georgia, Christian Coleman grew up with two sisters, Camryn and Cailyn. He came from a sporting family, as two of his cousins were letter-winners in college football and his older sister Camryn competed in track and field at Georgia Southern University.

Coleman has been spotted training with Dennis Mitchell at his Star Athletics Track club based in Montverde, Florida alongside his girlfriend Sha’carri Richardson. Last year, 18-year-old Jamaican sprint prospect Alana Reid made the decision to move to Florida to train alongside Richardson and her coach.

Why was Christian Coleman banned?

Coleman was banned for two years for breaching whereabouts rules in a decision communicated by the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) on October 27, 2020. Christian Coleman’s ban was reduced from two years to 18 months.

The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) made the reduction after Coleman appealed his suspension but he missed the Tokyo Olympic Games. Coleman was provisionally suspended by the AIU in June 2020. In 2019, the sprinter  escaped a ban after he was charged under anti-doping procedures for failing to properly file his whereabouts information on three occasions.

Coleman has a personal best of 9.76 seconds for the 100-meter race, making him one of the fastest men in history. Coleman holds the world record for the indoor 60-meter race with a time of 6.34 seconds. Coleman’s personal best for the 200-meter race is 19.85 seconds
