1. Lydiah Tokesi: Kajiado County

Tragedy and grief befell the family and friends of Lydia Tokesi, a 29-year-old Moi University graduate who went missing on January 4.

Authorities are still looking for her longtime boyfriend, Phillip Orwa, who is the prime suspect in the gruesome murder that shocked the nation.

2. Winnie Akusuha: Nandi County

Sadness prevailed in Kanlbwareng village in Nandi county after a domestic dispute turned serious.

Juma Hannis Shimano allegedly stabbed his wife, Winnie Akusuha, following what is believed to be an escalation of their quarrel.

The man also died a short time later, leaving their three children, a boy and two lovely girls, orphaned.

3. Joy Fridah Munani: Nairobi County

Police on routine patrol in Huruma arrested 29-year-old John Kiama Wambua after noticing his suspicious behavior while holding a heavy bag.

When they checked, they found that the bag contained the body parts of his 19-year-old wife, Joy Fridah Munani.

The unusually calm suspect led detectives to his home where officers found more remains under a bed and a bloody knife.

The investigation is ongoing as authorities search for missing body parts and the motive behind the brutal crime.

4. Laurine Ochieng: Siaya County

Alloyce Ochieng, 24, allegedly killed his estranged wife, Laurine Ochieng, after inviting her to discuss their issues.

Alloyce's mother and neighbors begged him to stop, but he continued the attack, only to run away after realizing he was dead.

Laurine's enraged brothers set fire to Alloyce's house and her mother, then headed to the mortuary where her body had been taken.

5. Marianne Kilonzi: London

Away from home, 43-year-old Marianne Kilonzo, vice president of Citibank, was found dead in her home in Woolwich, London, on Friday, January 17.

The results of the autopsy showed that the Kenyan woman suffered a sudden trauma and a head injury, allegedly caused by someone she knew.

Chief Inspector Suzanne Soren of the Southern Crime Squad told the media that police had launched an investigation into his suspected murder.

William Ruto creates a task force to deal with the killing of women

This is contrary to the situation of the President William Ruto creating a task force to investigate cases of femicide and other forms of sexual violence.

In a government gazette notice published on Friday, January 10, the president observed that the increase in cases of GBV and the killing of women continue to cause serious physical, emotional and economic harm to individuals, families and communities.

He appointed former deputy chief justice Nancy Barasa as the chairman of the 42-member task force.
