Nairobi – The family of a 29-year-old man accused of brutally murdering his wife say he was a good, calm and friendly man.

Relatives and close friends of John Kiama Wambua explained that they do not understand how the young man was involved in the death of his beloved wife.

“He is not a man of anger; he is a very quiet person who hardly speaks or causes trouble,” David Ngugi, one of the relatives said.

His close friend Stephen Kisanga also revealed that he had never seen him harm anyone and was confused as to how he got to his current state.

According to Kisanga, the defendant is a very good person.

“He has always been a good man; We do not understand what could have happened to him or he entered one of these cults. I cannot say because for days and years I have interacted with him, I have never seen or heard that he fought or hit someone,” he said in a Citizen TV report.

Kiama was arrested on January 20 after police officers patrolling Huruma Street in Nairobi found him carrying the dismembered body of his wife in a bag.

According to the police, Kiama admitted that the remains belonged to his 19-year-old wife, Joy Fridah Munani.

Why John Kiama Wambua killed his wife

Wambua appeared in court on Wednesday, January 22, to answer charges of murder.

Court reporter Zipporah Weru shared a video of the accused during his arraignment, revealing that he confessed to the murder, saying he was forced to do so due to allegations of infidelity.

In addition, the video captured him looking nonchalant as he struggled with some papers, leaving Kenyans in awe.

DCI reveals new details in the case of murder in Huruma street

TUKO.co.ke reported that the Department of Criminal Investigation (DCI) released photos of the suspect with the bag earlier today and assured the family and the public that investigations are ongoing.

However, the detectives noted that some of the body parts are still unaccounted for, which has sparked a wide-ranging search and further forensic investigations.

The recovered remains of the girl were shifted to the City mortuary for postmortem.
